Agriculture Minister Indar Weir is encouraged about the possibility of workers in the island’s sugar industry being able to have a stake in its continued development.
Minister Weir made the comment, as he acknowledged that there has been an expression of interest by a local credit union consortium to take over the operations of the Barbados Agricultural Management Company (BAMC).
The Minister tells CBC News he is unable to go into details about the proposals, since he still has to make a formal presentation to cabinet for consideration.
