Shortly after taking second position in this year’s Junior Calypso competition, Kenaz ‘The Mighty Bit Bit’ Walker departed the island to represent Barbados in the World Championship of Performing Arts in the United States.
He was able to win Gold, Silver and Bronze awards in different musical categories.
A CBC News team was on hand when 12-year-old Bit Bit returned from the competition, which took place from July 28 to August 6 in California.
He said he first learned about the competition from his friend Trinity Clarke who had taken part in it before.
He said the competition featured a wide range of categories, including dancing, singing, modelling, acting and more.
Bit Bit represented Barbados in singing in the 11 to 12 age category, after first going through a preliminary round and then a semifinal stage.
Additionally he also won a Silver pin for being a semifinalist and he also received a plaque for Overall Division Winner in the Vocal Gospel category.
