Youth Parliament shares proposals on tackling violence

Even though it was billed as a ‘mock Parliamentary Debate’, members of the Barbados National Youth Parliament brought real proposals to combat the violence facing the country.

16 representing Government and 13 under the Opposition banner, during the session presented their positions on a national action plan on violence.

Youth Prime Minister and Leader of Government Business, Pierre Cooke Jr. led off the Debate.

He believes the return to the concept of a village raising a child is key.

Opposition Leader in the Youth Parliament, Tyrel Giles wants more businesses to empower youth in the surrounding neighbourhoods.

He believes the Chukka Caribbean approach at Harrison’s Cave is an example for other companies.
