The Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) is closely monitoring the progress of a tropical wave located near 54W (375 miles or 605 km) east of Barbados at 6 am today, Monday 11 October.
Although convection associated with this wave increased overnight, it remains rather disorganized. Some slow development is possible as the system encounters a marginally favorable environment over the next day or two.
Analysis of model data indicates that the wave will begin to affect Barbados from this evening through to Tuesday morning. Scattered moderate to heavy showers, thunderstorms and gusty winds are possible as this system affects the island. This may result in flood watches or warnings being issued later this evening if conditions warrant.
This system is not a tropical storm or depression. There are therefore no tropical storm warnings or watches in effect for Barbados. People should monitor the BMS for updates throughout today.
The next update will be at 2 pm today.
