Address priority issues

February 16, 2023

Prime Minister of the Bahamas and CARICOM Chairman, Philip Davis has advised Barbados and other regional heads of government to take concrete steps to address a number of priority issues that require the bloc’s urgent attention.

The Bahamian leader, who was speaking at the opening of the 44th Regular Meeting of CARICOM Heads of Government, wants to see progress in the areas of food security and tackling climate change.

He is pressing for CARICOM states to strengthen their collective response to end the smuggling of drugs and guns and to wipe out the misery of human trafficking.

According to Mr. Davis, the region has shown how cooperating to address common issues has benefitted member states, noting that going it alone will not work.
