In Guyana, one person has been detained and the search is on for another in connection with the execution style murders of a Barbadian woman and her Guyana Defence Force (GDF) boyfriend earlier this week.
Police say the father of the child of 23 year old Shanicka Forde has been detained. Forde was shot and killed along with GDF Lance Corporal Daniel Fraser, 26, by a lone gunman on a bicycle on Wednesday.
Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum told the online publication, News Room, that investigators are also looking for a second suspect.
Police say Forde went to Guyana about a month ago and was scheduled to return to Barbados today.
The couple has been together for over a year and relatives claim Forde travelled to Guyana to sort out her birth certificate to join the military in Barbados.
Forde was shot three times, including one to her chest and the others to her abdomen.
Fraser, who celebrated his birthday on August 30th, died from a single gunshot wound to the chest.
