Dominicans will go to the polls on December 6, 2022.
Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Roosevelt Skerrit has called snap general elections so Dominica can start next year anew.
On Sunday night, in an address to the nation streamed online he said, “I want for the year 2023 to begin with a fresh mandate, given to a fresh Labour team to commence the work of building post-COVID Dominica.
“With this in mind, today I wrote to His Excellency the President [Charles Savarin] and advised he dissolves the current Parliament of this country, effective immediately.
“I’ve asked that a fresh writ be issued on Monday, 7th November, 2022 for the holding of general elections in the Commonwealth of Dominica.”
Skerrit, who has led Dominica for the last 18 years declared Friday, November 18 as Nomination Day, saying, “The Dominica Labour Party will reveal its new look slate of candidates in Roseau on Tuesday, November 8th.”
