The Flood Watch in effect for Barbados has been extended.
Earlier today, the Barbados Meteorological Services had issued a Flood Watch, which was to be terminated at 6:00 p.m.
However, the BMS says an upper-level diffluent pattern along with surface to low-level convergence has generated pockets of moderate to heavy showers across the island during the afternoon. Maximum rainfall accumulations of 20.0 to 40.0 mm in moderate to heavy showers are possible tonight with shower activity likely to persist throughout the weekend.
As a result, the Flood Watch will now be in effect until 6:00 a.m., tomorrow, Saturday, November 5th, 2022, but will be updated sooner if conditions warrant.
In addition, the BMS says due to the saturated nature of the soils, the Watch could be upgraded to a Warning at short notice.
