Historic treble for Wales

December 18, 2023

Weymouth Wales is the undisputed champion of local football.

Playing last night at the Wildey Turf, Wales thrashed Wotton 6-1 to successfully defend their Barbados Football Association Republic Cup title.

Following a goalless first half, Jabarry Chandler broke the deadlock in the 67th minute for Wotton.

Three minutes later, Wales equalised through Akeem Hill. Then in a sudden turn of events, the sides were reduced to nine men as two players from both sides received red cards before the whistle at the end of regulation.

Shaquille Stuart gave Wales the lead in the first minute of extra time before late strikes from Nadre Butcher, Zachary Applewhaite and Renaldo Marques sealed the deal, as Wotton ended the contest with eight players due to another red card.

It means that Weymouth Wales has completed a historic men’s treble and a clean sweep of all domestic football trophies for 2023.
