Joseph bags bronze in scratch race

Aprill 4, 2024

Top Barbados cyclist Amber Joseph will be making one more bid to qualify for the 33rd Olympiad.

It comes tomorrow in Los Angeles, when she participates at the Pan American Track Cycling Championships in the omnium.

The omnium sees cyclists take part in six events over two days, with the riders accumulating points, and the rider with the most points declared the winner.

That event will be on day three of the Pan Am Championships.

Joseph has already started her build-up to that event, as she bagged a Bronze in the Women’s Scratch Race last night on day one.

The 10-kilometre, 40-lap race was won by Jennifer Valente of the USA, while Canada’s Lily Plante was second.

Edwin Sutherland finished the 15km (60 laps) men’s scratch race in 12th position.

Mexico’s Fernando Nava Romo won the event, Christian Arriagada Pizarro of Chile was second and Akil Campbell of Trinidad and Tobago was third.
