More Bajan athletes qualify for CARIFTA

A number of Barbadian athletes hit the qualifying mark for the 2024 CARIFTA games over the weekend. This was during the final sessions on the final day of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Junior National Championships.

Having already qualified in the Girls’ 100 Metres, Aniyah Nurse also made the cut in the 200 with a time of 24.70 seconds.

Jahkye Brewster was also in qualifying standard in the Boys Under-17 equivalent with a 22.50 seconds run.

Meanwhile, in the Boys Under-20, two athletes went under the required time of 21.80 seconds – Aragon Straker with 21.28 and Jadon Bowen with 21.78.

Meanwhile, Ashlyn Simmons – last year’s Girls Under-17 800 Metre champion, is in good form and looking to claim the title as she moves up to the Under-20s.
She ran a qualifying time of 2 minutes, 17.92 seconds.

Also meeting the qualifying mark were Chanecia Bryan and Danya Skeete in the Under-17 girls 800 Metres.
