The Burke brothers Josh and Jacob are the only two male surfers left to fly the Broken Trident in tomorrow’s round of 32 at the BTMI Barbados Surf Pro at the Soup Bowl in Bathsheba.
Josh, in the day’s second heat, posted a wave total of 13.17 to take the win ahead of the USA’s Cole McCaffary, whose total was an 11.37.
Meanwhile, Jacob was second in heat 9 with a wave total of 12 behind winner Carlos Munoz of Costa Rica with a 12.56.
Jacob’s best wave was his opening ride which was a 6.67, the second highest wave score of that heat.
The other Barbadians who competed today were Lewis St. John who was fourth in his heat with a 8.20.
Evan Puma also ended at the bottom of his heat with a 6.90.
Despite a strong 9.30 it was not enough for Caleb Rapson to advance, as he was third in his heat, while Ocean Gittens was also eliminated at the round of 64 stage after a good showing of 11.46 saw him unfortunately ending in third.
