A bust of Barbados Olympian James ‘Jim’ Wedderburn, has been unveiled at the Barbados Olympic Association’s Museum.
Wedderburn was Barbados’ first Olympic medallist, winning Bronze as part of the British West Indies 1600 metre relay team at the 1960 Summer Olympics held in Rome, Italy.
The unveiling was attended by fomer BOA President Steve Stoute, current President Sandra Osbourne, and Honorary International Olympic Committee member Sir Austin Sealy.
Wedderburn was delighted to be recognised in this manner.
Director of the Caribbean Wax Museum, Arthur Edwards, notes the bust was originally earmarked for Wedderburn’s alma mater, but will rest at the BOA Museum.
