Barbados’ Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley has warned that anti-microbial resistance (AMR) is threatening to erode years of medical progress.
She highlighted the situation in an address before the 9th Statistical Forum hosted by the International Monetary Fund titled ‘Climate Change and Statistics – The Road Ahead’.
AMR occurs when microorganisms – bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites no longer respond to anti-microbial medications that were previously effective.
Prime Minister Mottley says these all require funding.
