Coleridge and Parry students persevere through challenges

January 26, 2023

The Coleridge and Parry School continues to be a centre of learning excellence despite recent challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Hurricane Elsa and the ashfall.

This news comes from Principal, Sonja Goodridge, during the Principal’s Report of the school’s annual speech day and prize giving ceremony, the first to be held since the onset of the pandemic.

Ms. Goodridge revealed a number of students excelled in their external examinations, national sporting competitions, extra curricular competitions, talent shows, NIFCA performances and the junior calypso competition.

She highlighted a few examples of perseverance by the students over the past few years.

Students received awards for excellence in academic studies, community spirit, sports and leadership.

The principal also lauded the efforts of philanthropists who donated significantly to school repairs and upgrades.

She listed a number of those repairs and upgrades which she says are improving the teaching and learning environment of the school including the repainting of classrooms, restoration of the pavilions, retrofitting of labs and the canteen, retiling of rooms, repairing of furniture and the reconstruction of the base of the school’s water tanks.

Ms. Goodridge expressed gratitude to the Board of Management of the school and the donors who made the upgrades possible.
