New Sports Medicine Clinic

April 5, 2023

It was 15 years in the making.

Finally, the Barbados Olympic Association (BOA) headquarters in Wildey is now home to the National Sports Medicine Clinic, which was officially launched recently along with the athlete health and wellness programme.

The brainchild of the past president of the BOA Steve Stoute, the clinic was born out of the idea of providing a full range of services for athletes in one location.

It was made possible through a partnership initiative started back in 2008, with the Ministry of Sport and the Barbados Sports Medicine Association, to offer specialised medical care to national athletes and teams.

President of the sports medicine association, Dr. Carl Ward, outlined some of the services to be offered.

BOA president Sandra Osborne, says it’s all about helping athletes reach their full potential.

Minister of Sports, Charles Griffith, while urging the national federations to utilise the clinic to best support their athletes and teams, also wants the clinic to be offered in communities across the island.
