Belize’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Francis Fonseca, says the country is not yet ready to reinstate diplomatic ties with Israel.
The CARICOM state in November of last year suspended ties with Israel due to its indiscriminate bombing of the Gaza Strip.
It had also recalled its ambassador and retracted its request for accreditation for its Honorary Consul in Tel Aviv.
Church groups have been pressing the Belizean government to rethink its position.
However, Minister Fonseca says the nation simply isn’t there yet.
