Policeman among five killed in Trinidad

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – A member of the police force was among five people killed in shootings there on Saturday.

The police report that shortly before 11 am (local time), they received a report from the Command Centre of a shooting at an apartment complex in Harpe Place in which several people were shot and feared dead during the mid-morning attack .

The police say of nine people who were hit, five died, one being a police corporal who was a member of the police band.

The Police on arrival, cordoned off the scene , where they found three bodies including that of Sgt Larry Phillip.

Two injured men where rushed to hospital but died shortly after their arrival.

Officers of the Homicide Bureau say  investigations are still underway.
