Around 7 p.m., hundreds of Barbadians were already in attendance at the CARICOM 50th Anniversary Concert being held at the National Botanical Gardens.
Cultural Ambassador Dr. The Most Honourable Anthony Carter, also known as “The Mighty Gabby”, was among the early performers, backed up by the sweet sounds of the National Folk Chorale.
The event began with the Crop Over Folk Concert, which was postponed last week due to inclement weather. Several well-known local and regional artistes are slated to perform at the concert through the evening and into tonight.
Barbados has joined other members of CARICOM in celebrating the occasion of the golden anniversary with a massive concert and a one-off public holiday.
