Buildings near US Capitol evacuated due to claims of explosive device in truck

Multiple buildings near to the US Capitol have been evacuated as police respond to a claim of an explosive device in a truck.

Reports indicate a man drove a black pickup truck, wthout license plates, onto the sidewalk in front of the Library of Congress this morning, claiming he had a bomb and displaying what looked like a detonator to the officer on the scene, according to US Capitol Police.

Negotiators are in communication with the suspect, who has been live-streaming the event.

Officials say they have a possible name for the suspect, but have not yet determined his motives.
