171 new positive COVID-19 cases recorded

On Friday, February 25th, 171 people tested positive for COVID-19 from the 1,107 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory. Of the new cases, 87 are males and 84 are females.

From the new cases, 30 individuals are under the age of 18, and 141 are 18 years and older. There were 74 patients in isolation facilities, and 2,262 in home isolation.

One Barbadian male, aged 73, succumbed to the virus on Friday, February 25th, bringing the total number of COVID-19 deaths to 313.

The public health laboratory has carried out 583,727 tests since February 2020, and recorded 54,902 cases (25,494 males and 29,408 females) of COVID-19.

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the total number of people with at least one dose is 160,024 (70.1 per cent of the eligible population).

The total number of fully vaccinated people is 149,281 (55.1 percent of the total population, or 65.4 percent of the eligible population).

The eligible population represents those who are 12 years and older.
