2022 edition of the Barbados Independent Film Festival begins

March 2nd, 2022

The local film industry is on the come back trail and Barbadians can again watch indigenous productions on the big screen.

That’s because the Barbados Independent Film Festival will be welcoming viewers in-person for the first time in two years.

The 2022 edition kicks-off with a red carpet affair at the Wall Garden Theatre of the Barbados Museum this evening, followed by a featured film depicting Barbadians connected to the first World War.

Executive Producer, De Carla Applewhaite says there’s a buzz again around the local film industry.

She admits however there has been a decline in local productions for BIFF 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The BIFF Executive Producer is happy to welcome viewers back to the festival for in-person screenings, but she explains there’s a virtual option to view films in a hybrid format.
