All out of COVID-19 vaccines

Barbados National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19 has not ended despite the current unavailability of vaccines.

Chief Medical Officer, Dr. The Most Honourable Kenneth George, says there was a shortage of vaccines from the usual sources, adding the Ministry of Health and Wellness had reached out to the Pan American Health Organization to secure vaccines for adults and children over 12 years old.

The last batch of Sinopharm Vaccines expired in August, this year.

Dr. George further noted that while the Ministry received offers for COVID-19 vaccines from some international donors, it was unable to accept them because of issues surrounding the expiry dates of the vaccines.

He assured Barbados the Ministry of Health will continue to explore all avenues with respect to sourcing vaccines.
