Barbadian Ashley Lashley has been recognised for her work in raising awareness about global social, environmental and health issues and climate change.
She’s been named the special mention awardee of the 2023 Enrique Garcia Leadership Award.
The award organised by the CAF Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean was presented during a ceremony in Panama.
Ms. Lashley is the current Barbados Youth Ambassador to CARICOM and the founder of the Ashley Lashley Foundation.
She says she’s committed to fighting to ensure young voices are not only heard but that the youth actively shape decisions that impact their future.
She says youth must be a top priority for governments across Latin America and the Caribbean.
