A Barbadian is one of the two new UNICEF youth ambassadors from the region.
12 year old Maria Marshall is an environmentalist and a film maker who was recently recognized by Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley as a key ally in the fight against climate change.
The other ambassador is 18 year old Russell Raymond of Dominica.
The two ambassadors were appointed as the organisaion celebrated its 75th anniversary.
Ms. Marshall made a video presentation discussing her strategy for the protection of the environment.
Meanwhile, the Organisation’s Representative for the Eastern Caribbean, Dr. Aloys Kamuragiye says the world is at a crossroads and the time to address the future of children is now.
He says the best individuals to champion these causes are young people.
