Barbadians encouraged to submit their input

October 31, 2023

Consultations on the newly proposed reform of Barbados’ education system are ongoing and education officials are encouraging Barbadians to submit their input.

Reimagining Education: The Education Transformation Proposals Initiative, was launched earlier this month at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre.

Chief Education Officer, Dr. Ramona Archer-Bradshaw says four more consultations are planned and the second public consultations meeting is set for Queens College this Thursday.

Dr. Archer-Bradshaw reiterated the education system is not serving the needs of children as it should.

She notes instead of tweaking aspects of the system, officials saw it best to analyze and evaluate it and make a determination regarding its transformation to enhance students’ outcomes.

Dr. Archer-Bradshaw was a guest on the CBC TV8’s, Mornin’ Barbados.

The Chief Education Officer is hoping that by January, they will have a complete draft of proposals to present to Cabinet for approval, the proposed implementation is set for 2025.

Dr. Archer-Bradshaw assured that everything being put forward will be student-centric and the key to this is continued professional development for teachers.
