The Barbados Cricket Association has opted to play host to the England cricket team instead of bidding to stage West Indies Under-19 matches at Kensington Oval next year.
That revelation from BCA President Conde Riley in an interview with CBC Sports.
While the venues have not been officially announced, England will play the Windies in five T20Is and three tests running from January 28th until March 28th, 2022.
The test series in particular will see the two teams compete for the newly commissioned ‘Richards-Botham Trophy’ for the first time.
The trophy is named after two legends of the game – West Indies great Sir Vivian Richards and England icon Sir Ian Botham.
Additionally, the T20 series will be the longest series to date between the two teams in the format, and provides both sides an opportunity to prepare for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia in October 2022.
Riley notes the Under-19 World Cup and the England tour are being contested around the same time.
