B’dos ranks 22nd in passport index

Barbados again ranks top of the leaderboard for having one of the most powerful passports in the Caribbean.

The island’s passport is placed at 22nd in the 2024 Henley Passport Index due to its visa-free access across 165 destinations around the world.

The index was released on Wednesday, highlighting the power of passports of 199 countries.

Citizens of France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Singapore and Spain can enjoy visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 194 destinations around the world – the highest number recorded since the Henley Passport Index began tracking global travel freedoms 19 years ago.

The closest Caribbean island to Barbados is the Bahamas which is placed 24th in the index and St. Kitts and Nevis, 25th.

The least powerful passport in the world is Afghanistan.

It occupies the 104th spot with access to 28 countries.
