Local firefighters are being urged to take appropriate precautions to reduce their exposure to harmful cancer-causing substances.
The appeal has come from Chief Training Instructor at the Barbados Fire Academy, Leading Fire Officer Andrew Taylor.
He was speaking during the launch of the Barbados Fire Service Association’s 2023 Fire and Life Safety Handbook.
The book which contains stories and useful information for fire prevention and safety, also features an article about the various cancers firefighters may be exposed to on the job.
The handbook has been endorsed by Chief Fire Officer, Errol Maynard.
He says it aligns perfectly with the ongoing re-branding efforts of the fire service.
