Healthy, ready-to-eat pre-packaged foods, made right here in Barbados, should be on shelves in time for next year’s hurricane season.
According to Executive Director of the Barbados Manufacturers’ Association, Shardae Boyce, this is the aim of the Association’s ration pack initiative.
During an interview with the Business Report, Ms. Boyce noted the BMA will be working with food technologists and support agencies to get the project off the ground, but it will ultimately be passed on to people who can develop sustainable businesses.
She also spoke about plans for this year’s Trade and Innovation Expo, which replaces the 39-year-old BMEX.
The BMA head says the event, slated for October 27 to 29 at the Wildey Gymnasium, is carefully curated with a focus on attracting buyers from across the world.
Already, delegations from Guyana, Panama and Guatemala have confirmed their attendance.
