Call for greater mental health awareness

There has been a call for a comprehensive suite of mental health services to be established across all SIDS and made accessible for young people.

It came during the SIDS Ministerial Conference on NCDs and Mental Health, from Pierre Cooke, a Barbadian who has been diagnosed with multiple mental conditions.

The attorney-at-law in training, spoke of living with major depressive disorder, general anxiety disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

While calling for an end to the cycle of ignorance surrounding mental health, he challenged the leaders of small island developing states to work with the youth at all stages.
