Director of the CARICOM Single Market and Economy Unit Leo Titus Preville, says work continues to meet the March 30, 2024 deadline set by CARICOM Leaders for the free movement of people across the region.
Caribbean Heads of Government recently agreed to amend the Revised Treaty of Chaguaramas to guarantee CARICOM nationals generally the right to unrestricted travel to live and work in the member countries of the community.
These new free movement provisions will still not apply to The Bahamas and Montserrat.
Mr. Preville was among the panel for a discussion on migration in the Caribbean.
Mr. Preville adds the private sector in Barbados and the region stand to benefit once the process of free movement is made simpler.
