Horse owners are concerned by what appears to be a rise in theft of their animals.
CBC spoke with Equine Surgeon Dr. Jonathan White who was a recent victim himself, after a female horse and her foal were taken.
They have since been recovered, but he’s calling on authorities to stamp out the practice.
Dr. White says in most cases, the individuals who take these horses are unable to properly care for them.
He says as a result, they are placed in harmful environments.
