Christians in Barbados have been joining with millions across the globe for today’s observance of Palm Sunday.
It is a significant day on the Christian calendar, as it marks the final Sunday of Lent, the beginning of the Holy Week, and commemorates the triumphant arrival of Christ in Jerusalem, days before he was crucified.
Many Catholic and Anglican churches across the island held processions from nearby communities into their respective buildings, with members walking with palm crosses and palm leaves.
One of them was the St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Cathedral in Bridgetown.
Bishop of Bridgetown, the most reverend Neil Scantlebury in his sermon, encouraged people to demonstrate humility as Jesus did when he entered Jerusalem on a donkey.
