A senior fisheries official is cautioning about the impact of climate change on traditional fish stocks available to Barbadian fisherfolk.
Acting Deputy Chief Fisheries Officer, Christopher Parker, outlined on CBC TV 8’s The People’s Business programme, the potential impact climate change is having.
With increased storm activity and reduced warning time, Mr. Parker is advising fisherfolk to always have a management plan in place to protect themselves, vessels and stock.
While acknowledging that there are not enough landing spaces to accommodate all vessels, he says the fisheries division plays its part to assist as weather systems approach.
