While the safe zones in Barbados went into effect officially yesterday, discussions began this evening with stakeholders who have some issues with the roll out and parameters of the zones.
Members of the media quizzed Minister of Health and Wellness Lieutenant Colonel Jeffrey Bostic and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Kenneth George following a donation from the Pan American Health Organisation.
Minister Bostic was scheduled to meet with the Barbados Association of Medical Practitioners at four this evening and thereafter a number of other stakeholders.
He suggested there may be changes to the way safe zones operate after the consultations.
Today also saw some reallocation of nurses from at a vaccination site at Sharon Moravian Church due to shortages within the polyclinic system.
The issue of vaccination for those ages five to 12 was also raised and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Kenneth George said a team was examining it and a decision should soon be forthcoming.
Dr. George also indicated that they have removed the limitations imposed on who can get the Johnson and Johnson vaccines.
