Amid fears of job displacements due to artificial intelligence (AI), Barbados has told the International Labour Organisation (ILO), governments must work tirelessly to create environments in which jobs are created for citizens.
Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley stressed that without that basic dignity, citizens will be at the mercy of others.
She was among the world leaders addressing the “World of Work Summit 2023: Social Justice for All” hosted by the ILO in Geneva, Switzerland.
Ms. Mottley sees the the ILO World of Work meeting as critical, as leaders prepare for an upcoming summit in Paris, France on a new global financing pact.
