Barbados remains optimistic its Bridgetown Initiative can change the global architecture and assist countries today – many of which did not exist yesteryear.
Government officials and representatives continue to promote the plan on the world stage – the latest event being a discussion titled “Bridgetown Initiative – Fit for Purpose” organised by UN Climate.
Director of the Roofs to Reefs Project in the Prime Minister’s Office, Ricardo Marshall in dissecting the plan told the forum that the Bretton Woods Institutions do not address the needs of many countries, given the current climate crisis.
Mr. Marshall says countries that are vulnerable should have access to resources as there should be no competition.
He says countries are free to disagree with Barbados but when they do, they should come with a solution to address the climate crisis.
