Crochet is not only being used to empower handcraft personnel in the region but educate Barbadians on environmental issues.
Through her, Crochet for a Cause: Ridge to Reef Project, Nikisha Toppin is putting the spotlight on issues impacting the Caribbean through pieces depicting fish and coral.
The project is being supported by the Global Environment Facility, GEF Small Grants Programme implemented by the United Nations Development Programme.
Ms. Toppin who is the founder of Elaine’s Caribbean Crochet says they’ve been able to introduce several workshops and seminars as part of its empowerment drive.
