The deceased in the police-involved shooting in Storey Gap, Codrington Hill, St. Michael today has been formally identified by Police.
He is 31 year old Anderson Busby of Green Hill, St. Michael.
Police say around 11:10 a.m., personnel from the District A Police Station were called to investigate a serious matter at Storey Gap.
Busby was the subject of their investigations into a number of matters that were reported earlier.
He was seen walking along the road and identified. Police say they attempted to arrest him, but he resisted and evaded capture at this point, assaulting officers in the process.
Busby ran away from the Police, who gave chase on foot. The chase ended at a residence several metres away where he armed himself with a piece of wood.
He attacked the police officers, injuring a female officer who was struck on the right side of her head.
During the incident, Police fired shots in defence, and Busby was injured. Ambulance personnel were immediately summoned and on examination found no sign of life. A doctor visited the scene and subsequently confirmed his death.
The female officer who was injured was transported to the QEH for medical attention.
