The much talked about abolition of the 11 Plus examination is now an official proposal being made by the Ministry of Education.
Today the plan was outlined by Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley and education officials, at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre.
Prime Minister Mottley believes Barbados’ education system can, in her words, ‘go for gold’ once everyone is onboard with the transformation proposals.
She says properties have already been earmarked for the construction of two new schools which will cater to special needs.
Ms. Mottley reminded the public that it’s not just reform for reform’s sake, but a movement away from the old model of education.
She says training has begun for those in the system but the public must now decide on the transformation, noting Barbados can reach the highest level.
