The most credible news source in Barbados

January 25, 2024

‘Great surprise’… that’s how the Barbados Association of Medical Practitioners has reacted to the announcement in the press made by the Chief Operating Officer of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Mrs. Christine Greenidge said that there will be a change in the terms and conditions of work of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital consultants.

In a statement to the media BAMP, the trade union representing the majority of doctors at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital said this announcement was made unilaterally, without any prior consultation with them as a trade union.

The BAMP president says the issues relate to bed management, shortages of supplies, lack of nursing staff and other staff, unavailability of lab tests and lack of access to x-ray reports, along with other administrative issues.
