Health officials reportedly bracing for COVID-19 surge

Health officials are reportedly bracing for a surge in COVID-19 cases on the heels of the climax of Crop Over.

Information reaching CBC News indicates the latest dashboard to be released today could register over 700 new cases.

This would be the biggest increase since the emergence of new highly transmissible Omicron strains BA.4 and BA.5.

Some doctors meanwhile are reporting a significant uptick in patients complaining for flu like symptoms, but many people are not coming forward for official testing for the virus.

Pharmacies are also seeing an increase in demand for asthma inhalers and other medications to treat to symptoms associated with Covid-19, according to those who we’ve reached out to.
