High demand for vending spaces

August 28, 2023

There have been overwhelming requests for vending spaces in markets in and around Bridgetown.

Word of this from the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Nutritional Security, Indar Weir. He was speaking following a church service at the St. Martins Anglican Church in honour of the newly elected St. Philip South Constituency Branch Executive of the Barbados Labour Party.

Minister Weir noted that requests for stalls, particularly at the newly renovated Fairchild Street Market, have been tremendous, with more applications being received than there are available spaces. As a consequence, he says, the Government is looking at a comprehensive refurbishment plan for all markets across the island, to ensure anyone wanting a vending space can have access.

Minister Weir also said that the Government’s food terminal project at Lears in St. Michael is well advanced, with a number of greenhouses being erected.
