Man collapses and dies on the Mighty Grynner Highway

An elderly male pedestrian collapsed and died along the Mighty Grynner Highway, St Michael, around 3 pm today – near the Central Purchasing Building.

He was identified as 73-year-old Gordon Proverbs, of Brighton, Black Rock, St. Michael, by relatives who visited the scene.

Ambulance personnel were summoned by a passerby who had earlier witnessed the incident, and found no sign of life when they responded and examined Proverbs. A medical doctor also visited the scene and pronounced him dead.

There was no visible evidence of foul play, and police are therefore treating this as a sudden death.

Investigations are ongoing.
