Middle income countries at risk

Barbados has warned that middle income countries run the risk of being pauperized again if action isn’t taken to assist them in securing financing, as they are challenged by the old metric of debt per capita.

Prime Minister, Mia Amor Mottley says countries on debt row need the ability to breathe and need to have their debt forgiven and/or restructured.

The Barbadian leader, in her address at a Plenary of the 3rd European Union-Community of Latin American and Caribbean states in Belgium, told fellow leaders the tasks of saving both people and the planet are equal.

Ms. Mottley also called for the EU to be fair.
