It will cost approximately 12 million dollars to comprehensively clear up the discoloured water at the Barbados Water Authority’s Bowmanston Plant.
The update was given last night by the BWA Director of Engineering Charles Leslie, who says the situation is being tackled under three major efforts.
He was speaking on TV8’s The People’s Business, as the BWA dealt with tackling the breakdowns and discoloured water issues.
Meanwhile, BWA Manager of Water Resources and Environmental Management Unit Alex Ifill, gave a time frame in which customers in the north of the island, served by the Alleynedale System, will start to realise the impact of a filtration system which recently arrived in the island.
He says the system will be used to help alleviate discolouration issues in combination with the ongoing mains replacement programme, which is separately estimated at about 30 million dollars.
