Significant progress has been made in clearing the backlog of cases before the Office of the Ombudsman.
The update from Reverend Dr. Nigel Taylor, who was appointed to the post in May last year. He spoke during an interview on the Public Affairs Department’s “One-On-One” programme. He revealed that when he started the office had over 600 cases and that they have managed to reduce that by approximately half.
Reverend Dr Taylor reiterated that the office only deals with issues of maladministration on the part of the Government, its departments and state-owned enterprises. He noted that it often gets complaints outside its realm including for private matters. The Ombudsman also wants people to be mindful that with just one investigative officer, it will take some time once a complaint is filed.
