Officials are hoping they can help change the negative image of the QEH by providing the public with information in a timely manner.

Acting Health Minister Dr. Sonia Browne, made the point over the weekend as an outreach booth and flea market were launched on the hospital’s grounds near River Road, St. Michael.

Dr. Browne says hospital waiting rooms worldwide suffer with peaks and troughs annually in terms of patients visiting at specific periods.

She says this is why it is important for people to understand the importance of the triage system which has now been put in place.

Ms. Browne says the QEH offers many services which the public is not aware of and the outreach is intended to change this.

She is also optimistic about the public’s perception changing given recent signs of reduced patient numbers in the A&E Department.
