Barbadians are being told to expect rougher than usual sea conditions from later today until this Monday.
Meteorological officials say the Atlantic High-Pressure system will result in a deterioration of marine conditions in the eastern Caribbean and they’ve issued a Small Craft Advisory and a High Surf Advisory.
Moderate sea swells in open water of 2.0 to 2.5 metres or 7 to 8 feet are expected to impact the marine area from tomorrow night, with winds of 35 to 45kmh
A further increase in sea swells ranging from 2.5m to 3.0m in open water are forecast to impact the marine area from Sunday night.
A Small Craft Advisory is issued when sustained winds of 20 to 25 knots and sea swells of 8 to 10 feet are affecting or are forecast to affect the marine area within the next 36 hours.
A High Surf Advisory is issued when breaking wave action poses or is forecast to pose a threat to life and property within the surf zone during the next 36 hours.
